Message-ID: <2110@phri.UUCP> Date: Fri, 3-Jan-86 12:23:36 EST Article-I.D.: phri.2110 Posted: Fri Jan 3 12:23:36 1986 Date-Received: Sat, 4-Jan-86 17:12:33 EST Distribution: net Organization: Public Health Research Inst. (NY, NY) Lines: 14 We're looking into buying some Sun systems but don't like the prices Sun has on disk drives (i.e. $19.9 for a Fuji Eagle and controller). If we buy the disks from somebody else, what do I have to worry about in terms of compatability? Is one Multibus (or VMEbus) disk controller the same as any other (i.e. will the standard Sun driver work with them all)? I know this certainly isn't true for Unibus disks; you have to make sure they do the same emulation to be compatible. Is this the way Multibus stuff works or is there just one driver that works with every controller? -- Roy Smith System Administrator, Public Health Research Institute 455 First Avenue, New York, NY 10016
