I'm very much interested in various forms of transportation, but I'd rather be able to pick and choose what subject I'm reading than to have to wade through the whole mess for one topic or another. I'd certainly welcome some hard data comparing railroads with other forms of transport in terms of cost, volume, efficiency, etc. But general stuff, or stuff not pertaining to railroads at all, I don't feel belongs here any more than it does in net.aviation. I think it would be best if a group/list on "transport" were started, so that it would be chartered from the beginning to cover both (a) forms of transport not covered in special-interest groups, and (b) topics involving the interactions and relationships between various modes of transport. As certain forms of transport come to have heavy followings, they can splinter off, leaving the original group intact. -- Kenn Goutal
