My question is does the Vivitar > do all of the same things that a Pentax dedicated flash would do? I have a Vivitar with the Minolta module. There is a DM/P module for the Pentax which I am not familiar with. In general, the modules support any- thing that the cameras are capable of doing. The capabilities of the Vivitar 3500 are: 1) Dedicated "X" sync setting which is coupled with the ready light, 2) Dedicated ready light which appears in most camera viewfinders, 3) Sufficient light indicator which appears in most camera viewfinders, 4) Through-the-lens metering for cameras with off the film flash meters, 5) Program flash function where camera selects f stop, 6) Auto winder operation (1/8 power for fast recycling), 7) Zoom operation for >=85mm, >=50mm, >=35mm, >=28mm(flip panel), 8) Guide number of 94ft, 80ft, 66ft, 45ft(ASA 100) respectively, 9) Automatic operation at f/2, f/4 and f/8 for ASA 100, Power sources include 2 AA alkaline or 2 AA nicad. Optional accessories include: HVP-1(high voltage pack), SB-4(AC adapter), & PPG-1(power pistol grip) power sources, Filter adapter and filters, Macro flash sensor, DSC-1 dedicated sensor cord for off camera operation (I recommend) Remote flash trigger with rotating hot shoe, Bounce diffuser.
