The movie is Silent Running, but the hero, Freeman Lowell (played by Bruce Dern) hardly deceides to destroy the pods. In fact, he kills the other human members of the crew when they are ordered to destroy the pods and they attempt to comply. The sound track was by Joan Baez (sp.?). But the real stars of this movie were the robots (called drones). Very R2D2 like and very cute. And they came first. Brian Utterback Intermetrics Inc. 733 Concord Ave. Cambridge MA. 02138.
