I realize that this is a perverse issue for this newsgroup, so I will try to cross-post to net.consumers, but what does a 976 number imply?

I know that a 950-xxxx number is a gateway to alternate long distance services

What (other than 976 and 950) prefixes imply other than merely the geographic
area withing an area code?
