I doubt it - Gibson just doesn't seem the type. It's mainly a matter of his wanting a long-term contract - the owners seem to have a silent understanding that three years will be the maximum they will offer from now on. Actually, it's kind of a shame that the new "fiscal sanity" is starting with Gibson - he's one of the very few players (maybe throw in Gooden and Henderson) that's actually worth a megabuck long-term contract. Speaking of megabuck contracts, Wade Boggs wants $2 mil a year for three years plus $200 grand a year for life after retirement. This, of course, immediately started the trade rumors flying. I think Boggs and Gedman are the only two Red Sox I would object to being traded, but I don't think Boggs (or anyone else, for that matter) is worth that kind of money. The Sox are already raising ticket prices... At least they've dumped Clear at last (what can you Brewers fans tell me about Romero, by the way?).
