Not very short-lived, since it is still being shown.  The name of this
show is "Dempsey and Makepiece".

It is syndicated, so it is shown on different stations and at different
times in different areas.  Your local station obviously decided to drop
it completely.  In Boston I think it is shown at midnight on Fridays on
channel 5 (WCVB, the ABC affiliate).
