"The Sensible Sound" (Fall 85) mentions that video tapes shed small
amounts of oxide, with better tapes shedding less.  The tape will provide
better performance on 2nd, 3rd & 4th play because of it being smoother
and the cassette mechanism loosened up.  They recommend using the best
grade tape & breaking it in first to make the best recordings.  However,
they caution not to use a tape that has been used for special effects
because this can damage a tape.
