It exists on all ADM3As; LSI will not fix it. The screen will blank whenever the ring-indicator pin goes high. The terminal can be fixed my cutting the appropriate trace (I think it is pin 8) on the board. Making this change will of course void your warrantee. You can test the change by using a cable which lacks the pin.
