It's about 1/4" wide and gets darker as the density of the printed image gets higher but always appears in the same place on the paper. Blank, or nearly blank pages do not cause it to appear. It can be erased (with difficulty) with a regular pencil eraser (the specified markings don't erase) but this is a real pain. It is not heavily used and the problem seems to get worse the more it is used. (This may be my imagination.) I've tried all the obvious (to me) fixes like replacing the cartridge, a thorough cleaning etc. and nothing works. (The new cartridge made it worse!) The machine is practically new (about 4000 copies) and hasn't had any problems before this one. If anybody has experienced this problem with any Canon-engine machine, I would appreciate learning how it was resolved. Our vendor's "LaserWriter specialist" is on vacation and nobody else there seems to know anything. Please don't be too hard on me if I'm missing something obvious! Thanks in advance, Glen GFOSTER@USC-ISIA.ARPA -------
