Now wait a minute... I dunno who from the VMS group handles the 10/20 to VMS integration sessions, but sounds like they were confused. At the SIR (System Improvement Request) session (where DEC responds to the SIRs that we as users voted on as the top ten most important) DEC made it quite clear that some sort of information archiving/retrieval system was something they were looking at both because of the TOPS integration issue and because of the importance that commercial shops put on this SIR. I think that a DEC response to this SIR at a DECUS SIR session is more likely to contain real information. Of course, they are in no way committed to providing such a beast based on that discussion, but the point I'm making is that someone in the VMS group knows about this and knows that people want it and is interested in doing something about it.
