A report on the results of an on-going NASA Scientific investigation that involves the processing of data from two new earth observation satellites -- LANDSAT-4 and LANDSAT 5. Several new digital image processing techniques have been developed to compensate for failed detectors and to improve the data radiometry, geometry and quality. In particular, the current use of personal computers for LANDSAT image processing will be described. The resulting data have been registered to cartographic maps and digital terrain data sets, allowing the generation of interesting new presentations and oblique views. The talk will also touch on the application of future technologies to image processing and information extraction. - WHO: Ralph Berstein, Senior Staff Member, IBM Palo Alto Scientific Center Ralph Bernstein is the Principle Investigator on the current NASA LANDSAT-4 and LANDSAT-5 research program. He is editor of the book "Digital Image Processing for Remote Sensing", has contributed to a number of other books, and has contributed to a number of other books, and has authored over fifty scientific and technical papers. Ralph Bernstein has received awards and honors from IBM, NASA, IEEE, and Tau Beta Pi; and he has been elected to Who's Who in America. - WHEN: 8 pm, Tuesday, 28 January 1986. - WHERE: Stanford Linear Accelerator Center 2575 Sand Hill Road, in the Auditorium (Ask for directions at the guard kiosk). ___________________ NOTICES ______________________ If you wish to provide Administrative Assistance or help us to acquire Technical Speakers, please contact: Dan Clarke 2132 Randolph Drive San Jose, CA 95128 408/496-7302 If you wish to become a member of the Local SIGGRAPH, send inquiries to: S.R. So far, no luck. I have tried the STI plot-10 package and gotten results that I do not understand. We have the DMA connection (to a VAX 8600 running VMS 4.1a), but I have not tried this. Any help would be appreciated. Please reply to mcohen%NRTC@USC-ECL If anyone else wants to know the answers, and I get any, I will post them to this bboard. Joel Subject: Problem: Screen dumping to an IBM 32872C printer I am trying to do a screen dump to an IBM 32872C printer of graphics, but all I get are characters - no graphics. Is there a way of setting the 3287 such that it will accept the input stream as graphics info instead of text data? Please note: the graphics are being created with IBM's APL GRAPHPAK.
