Pennsylvania State Police experimented with roof level brake/flasher
lights back in the early 70's.  The result?  Accidents involving
cruisers being rear ended and officer injuries took a nose-dive.
As a result, ALL Pennsylvania State Police marked vehicles have had
these extra lights since.  It actually is a great idea.
