Small correction: Not every time that you hit the brakes, every 10
seconds (or so). I took the bulb out with the car sitting (no lights
on) and within ~10 seconds, I got the warning. Put the bulb back,
message cleared in ~10 seconds. It works by sending a small AC
signal through the light circuts.
