Do you have power steering?  If so, this could be the source of your noise
when you turn the steering all the way right, or left.  I've experienced it
with my cars and contribute it to either a safety by-pass valve opening up
at limit, or to a slipping belt to the power steering pump that slips 
because there is more torque on the pump when the steering wheel is at its
limit.
