I would like to replace the thing with a piece of pipe before it gets totally stopped up (assuming it will). However, I am not sure what other kinds of things should be done (.ie retuning the engine, different plug temperature, etc.). Also, by removing the converter and also the related backpreasure can I do any damage to the engine? The type of car is a 1981 Subaru. Any suggestions/comments will be appriciated.
