Haven't had a chance to read _Yeager_ yet, though I fully intend to.
However:
There's a really superior and often overlooked book by D. Dwiggins,
_Hollywood Pilot_, the story of Paul Mantz, that I cannot reccommend
too highly.  Probably Dwiggins at the peak of his form.  The stories
about Yeager (and, for that matter, Ronald Reagan[!]) might give you
some further insight into the man.

As the Macnelly cartoon said when _The Right Stuff_ movie came out
in the 1984 election period (with a poster showing "The Story of John
Glenn Before He Became a Space Cadet"), one man speaking to the other
said, "I don't care: the movie did change the way I vote.  I'll
vote for Chuck Yeager."
