Here's a non-horror story. Last summer, I bought a Sony VCR at Deluxe Radio, Nashua, NH. A few weeks after the "90 days full parts and labor" warranty expired, some of the front panel switches stopped working. When I called Deluxe, they said to bring it in at the end of the week, and they'd swap. I did (didn't even have to find the invoice), and they replaced it with a brand new unit. By the way, their price was only about 10% over the New York mail-order stores. Sometimes, shopping around is a good idea. Martin Minow decvax!minow
