I had ordered (by phone) a Sony VCR. I was told that the item was in stock and was even told that if I wanted delivery within two days, I could have it shipped by Federal Express (for an extra $30). I had them just ship it via UPS and they said that it would be delivered within a week. A week later, I called and was told that they did NOT really have them in stock but they were on order and would be in "shortly". I cancelled the order and ended up buying the VCR locally for only about 25 dollars more (but got a club membership free). I later found that 47th Street had charged my Mastercharge for the VCR the day that I ordered it -- very un-ethical at the least. They did not credit my account until much later so that my next monthly bill had only the charge but not the credit. (I simply wrote a letter to my bank explaining the problem and that I was not going to pay the bill nor pay any interest - and the bank agreed.) On the other hand, other people that I know have had no problems with them. If I was to order from them again, I would have it shipped collect. This way, I would not pay until I actually received the goods. Bill McGarry Bunker Ramo, Trumbull, CT bunker!wtm
