If you have a copy, you can try running it through mlconvert. The worst problem with it is that there is no simulation of vi's . command. (I guess no one could agree on what "the last command" was.) As for the question the original poster asked, about converting UniPress people to GNU, you could mention rectangles, side-by-side windows, and the mark ring to them.
