When going into a shop, usually there's some kind of turn in the hall such as this: ###### #### Walk up to the corner, let your dog walk past you, and go behind the dog so it MUST go into the shop. Let doggie browse around; sometimes doggie will bring things to the entry square in the shop (where you can pick things up without being charged). When doggie lands on something you want, try stepping back. If you don't see it in the shop picture, even odds the dog has picked it up. When doggie re-appears, back up to the corner, go back looking for dropped item in the hall (which is now yours), carefully step into the shop, let doggie in, and get out again. Make sure doggie is well fed. While this isn't 100% effective, it works well enough for me to have remembered it. --Lynn ...lll-crg!figmo
