Someone recently pointed out that, with regard to eating dragon
corpora, that even after dropping everything, he could not pick
up the dragon.

It is not necessary to have a food object in your pack to eat it.
You can eat things that are lying on the ground. Simply type "e", and
the game will say, "there is a dead dragon here, "eat it?"
If you say yes, you will eat the dragon corpse. If you say no,
it will then ask about other items on the ground. If you refuse
all items on the ground, it will prompt for items in your pack.
