I have my own nominations:

* Whoever designed the Radio Shack radar detector.
* Whoever designed the Radio Shack anything.
* Wirth, for designing Pascal originally without an "otherwise"
    clause to the "case" statement.
* Gary Coleman, on general principles.
* Cabbage Patch Dolls.
* Drivers in Memphis during icy weather who go halfway up an ice-covered
    hill and then come to a complete stop (for no better reason than
    that they are scared witless of their own cars) - then spin their 
    wheels trying to get started again, in the meantime rolling 
    backwards toward me.
* WHOEVER THOUGHT OF DESTROYING NET.FLAME, which is where this
    discussion would best go.
