We found that diaper pins do not stay very sharp though, and sticking dull ones through many layers is not easy: use a whetstone to hone up the point and you save buying new ones all the time. There are numerous other arguements, like ecological ones, or that throwing human excrement into the garbage (with disposables) is both disgusting and illegal in most localities.
