And it's usually just after I've told someone else. My mother asks "Does Jean like orange goat cheese?" and I say "She hates it--can't stand to see it on the table." Then she gobbles it up. And Mom looks at me with that "You don't know your own kid" look. But that's probably the least of it when it comes to kids embarrassing you. Isn't it wonderful when they tell the family secrets to strangers?
