Message-ID: <1186@mhuxo.UUCP> Date: Tue, 14-Jan-86 18:50:49 EST Article-I.D.: mhuxo.1186 Posted: Tue Jan 14 18:50:49 1986 Date-Received: Wed, 15-Jan-86 08:27:17 EST Distribution: na Organization: AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill Lines: 23 While I am considering the purchase of an Atari 520 ST, I wonder if anyone has any knowledge or experience about connecting the ST to a color monitor other than Atari's. Recently, a ST model with the capability to connect to a conventional television has been announced, but I am more interested in using the ST with an RGB monitor. One difficulty appears to be interlacing. Most monitors, based on TV conventions, use interlacing. The 520 ST apparently generates a non- interlaced video signal. Ordinarily, these two formats are incompatible, forcing the prospective ST owner to also purchase the Atari monitor. Have I misunderstood some detail concerning interlacing? Does anyone have experience connecting an ST to a generic RGB or composite video monitor? Does anyone else care about connecting an ST to a monitor other than Atari's? Mail sent to me will probably serve best, unless someone wants to make this an item for public discussion. Patrick Wyant AT&T Bell Laboratories Naperville, IL ihnp4!ihwld!gjphw
