I would like to see pc, atari, and amiga groups in net.source, for this reason. I would be just as happy with mod.source.. I have to disagree about the utility of binaries. I many cases these computers do not come with the compilers, etc, needed to regenerate the binaries from source. In other cases the source *is* proprietary, while the binary isn't. This can involve use of a local or licensed library to perform interfacing, etc. I would rather have something for nothing than nothing at all. There is little reason to worry about a binary "trojan horse" on these machines, since there are no "outside users" to get at information, and the o/s manages to trash the file system often enough without help. PS: I think the atari make a GREAT output terminal for color graphics on a UNIX box, but I wouldn't buy a development system to compile source, since that's not my intended use. Binaries are fine, they allow other use for my graphics subsystem. -- -bill davidsen seismo!rochester!steinmetz!--\ / \ ihnp4! unirot ------------->---> crdos1!davidsen \ / chinet! ---------------------/ (davidsen@ge-crd.ARPA) "It seemed like a good idea at the time..."
