Re: "monitor/front panel emulator"  - You might look into the monitor
called Omnimon available from CDY Consulting, Richardson TX.   The phone
number there is (214) 235-2146.  The chap who will likely answer the phone is
David Young, and he can tell you what his Omnimon will do or send you
literature.  I just bought this and a couple of other nifty things from him,
but have been out of town a lot and haven't gotten it up and running yet.
