The source for the rumor that AIDS is man-made come from the
newspapers at the checkout counter in the supermarket, the
ones with cover stories like "APE BABY BORN TO ENCINO WOMAN"
and "SPACE ALIENS MOURN ROCK HUDSON."  Don't forget the coverage
of evening soaps that helps to blur the distinction between the
actors/actresses and their roles...
