I have attended the L.A. concert and came away convinced that the Residents
are a group of wonderfully talented musitians and performers with an amaizing
gift for absurd and bizzare.

The 2 hour concert was broken into two 45 min sections and an intermission.
The music was from many different albums : "Vileness Fats", "Big Bubble", other
earlier albums. There was a lot of strange performance numbers integrated into
the musical performance. A lot of subtleties are brought into the act that way,
enhancing the live show far beyond anything possible on the record. 

The group consisted of a singer ( who also did the rhythm programming ), 
guitar player, keyboard player and a few performance people who did some 
choreographed stage and mime work and lighting. There was a lot of computer use
in the performance : there were what looked like diskette holders on top of
the rhythm thing (whatever it was!) and the keyboards and the performers kept
swapping the disks.

And yes, Residents DID dress up in funny costumes. All performers (exept for the
guitar player) were masked. The singer  at some point appeared in a wig, false
ears and nose and some strange make up - as close as we came to seeing HIS face!
