Think of how much time 4.2 BSD systems spend doing namei types of things all ready, how many more times you'd have to go to disk, how much extra disk space would be taken up, how many extra inodes you'd burn, how much longer system backups would take, etc. Seems like a pretty hefty price to pay when there shouldn't be very many things cross posted at all. I have to wonder if it's worth it. Doug Hosking Convex Computer Corp. Richardson, TX {allegra, ihnp4, uiucdcs, sun!texsun}!convex!hosking
