One of them is analagous to the READ-EVAL-PRINT loop of LISP. It's the TAKE-IN-SENSORY-INPUT--PROCESS-IT--RESPOND loop. Another loop is the SEARCH-FOR-TRUTH/BEAUTY/GOD/HOLY-GRAIL/NIRVANA loop (substitute whatever symbolic name comes closest to naming the object of your desire). This is an NP-Complete problem, in that we don't have an algorithmic solution to it. Actually, USENET provides one of the most efficient mechanisms ever devised for solving that problem... Hey!
