I couldn't quite understand the relevance of the laws of Manu to net.religion.jewish until one day it dawned on me that perhaps the great Jewish philosopher Maimonidies was called Manu in hindi. This naturally led to further speculation, like, "how would people in India have heard of Maimonidies -- did he have a summer home in New Delhi ?" and "Are the laws of Manu really just the Mishneh Torah under another name?". So I'm glad you cleared this whole thing up before all the speculation got out of hand. ari gross
