I am writing a paper on the state of the art in the area of interprocess
communication. 
Is there anyone out there who can give me some information  or pointers to
work currently being done or state of the art efforts now taking place?

The way UNIX handles ipc is somewhat cumbersome and limited.  I'm looking for
other implementations or ideas or modifications or extensions.
