You may recall that Beatrice Bayley sells computerized telephone book lists for 25 or 30 dollars, insinuating that they are genealogical works. The ruling stipulated certain things that the company could not claim. As I recall, words such as "personal heritage" were disallowed in their advertizing. It's really a pretty good scam. They buy the lists from another company and just package it with a little general genealogical information and a coat of arms from some armorial work and send blurbs out to everyone in the phone book list. There is at least one other company, Halbert, that does the same thing. Don't fall for it unless you want a list of all (most?, many?) of the people in the U.S. with your surname. If your name is Smith you needn't worry; I'm sure you won't be hearing from them. Vick Bennison ...decvax!decwrl!rhea!tools!bennison (603) 881-2156
