The death rate for older men married to women one to 24 years younger was 13%
less than average for their age group.  Men with older wives seemed to have a
death rate 20% higher than average

A study on what brought people to marriage counselors found that the
three leading complaints in reverse order of frequency were:
  a) money
  b) sex
  c) differences in sleeping habits (one person waking up early and the other
     waking up late)
However, there was no difference in the number of complaints about money
among different income groups.

severely "frustrating"

Well educated men marrying less educated women are much less likely to
have heart attacks than the other way around.  In fact the rate
for highly educated men marrying women who did not finish high school
was 9 times that for highly educated women marrying men who did not
finish high school.

and for women 23.7 years.  Fourty per cent of all marriages were returnees
to the altar.  The U. S. Post Office expects to handle over a 100 million

Average marriage in America lasts 9.4 years.  In a survey, when asked why
their marriage is still going the most frequent response is that spouse
was their best friend.  Less than 10% attribute the staying power of their
marriage to their sexual relationship.

Median ages for marriages: 27 for brides, 28 for grooms.  (This is an increase
from 24 and 26 some time ago.)  The average combined income is $48,200.
Half of all nuptials will be videotaped.

In a study of severe child abuse (including fatalities), 37 percent of known
abusers were men in 1973 compared with 80 percent in 1983.
