I'm no statistician, but isn't there some information missing in
these figures (which originally came from the famous Ann Landers
survey, if I'm not mistaken)?

What we need to know is not "what percentage of the women who
said yes were under 40", but "what percentage of the women under 40
said yes".  It isn't the same thing!
