This is interesting. When vid games first came out, boys flocked to them.
I saw them as a waste of quarters (sexism lived in NYC in the 70s - girls
were only offered low wage typing jobs and the boys got higher paying
manual labor or follow in dad's footstep jobs ) To make matters worse,
the few times I antied up the two bits, the machine would blow me away
in 30 seconds (movies on campus were a buck) and the males would make
the usual sexist comments about women being weenies.

My roomate has a mac and a friend loaned us a game disk. I can zap aliens like
there is no tomorrow. I even found bugs in the higher levels. The guy
who worked on the game promised to see about getting a more advanced
version out. I haven't had to spend my precious laundry money to be the
ZAP!ZOOM! champ on the block.

Its all a matter of opportunity.
