Neither do I have any *recent* experience (say, do these things have a shelf-life? :-) ). But I'm going to give my 2-cents worth anyway. > [ Broken condom story...deleted in the interest of brevity.] > > Is there anything that I/we could have done immediately after > realizing what had occurred to reduce the possibility of > pregnancy (let's not resurrect the Coke discussion :-) ? I don't have much experience with these either, but you could keep a spermicidal cream around just in case of such accidents. Seeing as how an accident like this probably ruins "the mood" anyway, you wouldn't have to worry about it tasting bad during oral sex :-). I'm not real familiar with how these work so I may be way off base here. (Please, no flames about sexual ignorance; a simple correction will suffice, thank you.) > Is this a common occurrance? In the 15 or so times that I've used condoms, I have had two break in the same manner that you described. Both were synthetic condoms; one was a Trojan and I don't remember the other brand. I've used about a half-dozen of these. The box said they were tested/inspected. (Trying to be cool and look casual while buying them is bad enough...especially if the clerk is an attractive female...{even worse if she's someone who knows you}. But, try looking casual while trying to return one that broke! :-) ). The other ones I've used have been the natural kind (some sort of animal membrane; sheep, I think) and I've never had one break on me. The only ones I've ever seen are made by Ramses; I don't know if anyone else makes them. I'm sold on these because, while being about 3 times as expensive and kinda "icky-poo" (her description, not mine, because they come packed in a liquid lubricant), they seem more reliable, stay lubed longer, and feel better (from both sides; they're a little thinner).
