Guess again. No, neither of the scenes referred to were in the original theater release of ST:TMP. I have the first tape, the extended tape, and saw the film umpteen times in the theater; and can assure you all that Spock's crying scene was NOT in the theater version; a small excerpt of Ilia's memory scene with Chapel was ADDED to the second version, (it was more or less a token scene in sickbay with the head band in the original release).
