They have laundry facilities, a cafeteria and a large common area where you can meet a lot of friendly and interesting people from all over the world. I don't think it was necessary to be a member of AYH, CYH or some other affiliate of IYH to stay there, but they may tighten up their rules during Expo (I've had a life membership in AYH for more than 10 years and have certainly got my money's worth out of it). Advanced reservations are recommended, usually with a deposit of half the nightly cost. You can contact your local AYH office for more information (there is now a hostel in Portland again).
