Co., Inc., Everett, WA Lines: 52 I am trying to put together a dec system based on the LSI-11 bus. Currently I have the box and power supply, a KDF11-AA cpu, a DLV11-J, 128K-words of memory (Dataram), and a BDV11. I am also trying to buy some type of disk drive (an RX02 was what I originally had in mind). And for extra space, I have two WANGCO 100 Meg disk drives I am going to hook up. However, when I called Digital about purchasing an operating system for my system (either RSTS or RSX11-M, since I have used both of these systems), they told me I could not get either system on an RX02 disk. Ok, so I can also get an RL02 for my system at about the same price as an RX02 (used). However, the cost of buying an operating system and acquiring a license came to a grand total of $3100.00! --------->> !!!!! $3100.00 !!!!! <<----------- Breaking down this OUTRAGEOUS price -- $800.00 for the operating system $2300.00 for the license agreement Therefore, could anyone out there in netland please, please (note kowtowing) let me know of another way to get an operating system for my machine! I suppose I would be willing to spend $800.00 for an operating system AND a license agreement. Finally, if no one can come up with a way around my dilemma, does anyone out there want to buy a DEC system, cheap! Notes: 1. If I seem somewhat ignorant about buying an operating system, well, I bet you had to start somewhere too, buddy! 2. I do hope at least someone contacts me to let me know if this ever got posted.
