I think your problem is either easy or impossible to solve (well, you know.) Unfortunately my wizardry is limited more to 4.2bsd on VAXen and SUNs and SYSVR2 on 3B5s where it wouldn't be the same (at any rate, if it helps, the first thing I would do under 4.2bsd is look for a script like ANYBOO.CMD which stops and asks which device/kernel I wish to boot from (at the console.) I don't know if SYSV/VAX has something like this, but I would certainly look for it! I bet someone out on UNIX-WIZARDS could answer your question in a second, info-vax is almost exclusively VMS types. -Barry Shein, Boston University
