Waltham, Mass. Lines: 6 Keywords: turntable mats. Summary: What difference does the mat make? The current discussion about turntables has reminded of a question I have about turntable mats. I recently bought a Dual 505-II (which is a vast improvement over my Sony - I love it!) and I replaced the mat it came with with an anti-static mat. A friend pointed out that the mat might be there for more reasons than just to keep the record from slipping. Is there any truth to this?
