Message-ID: <262@hropus.UUCP> Date: Tue, 11-Feb-86 10:53:53 EST Article-I.D.: hropus.262 Posted: Tue Feb 11 10:53:53 1986 Date-Received: Wed, 12-Feb-86 08:17:20 EST Distribution: na Organization: Bell Labs, Holmdel, NJ Lines: 14 Xref: watmath net.auto:9382 net.audio:7572 I've recently installed a AM/FM cassette deck in my car along with a graphic equalizer/amplifier. I notice that when the ge/amp is on, I hear a background whine with frequency proportional to engine rpm. I presume the ge/amp is picking up ignition noise. (I don't hear the background whine when using only the AM/FM deck). Has anyone installed noise suppressors for this type of problem? I've seen suppressors sold that fit in the distributer terminal (inline with the main high voltage cable). Has anyone used this type? Is it effective and does it adversely affect engine performance? Any other ideas for ignition noise supression will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your feedback in helping stop mine! Steve Leitman
