The Feb and Mar 86 issues of Popular Science had some articles on
auto subjects that might answer questions I've seen in this
group.  Feb issue:
- Driving a Legend - this spring the $20,000 Legend comes to
America from Honda's Acura showrooms (1 page review)
- Pickup showdown - Ford Ranger XLT, AMC Comanche, Chevy S-10
Tahoe reviewed.  Author's choice: Ranger for superior power, top
handling, and easy-to-operate 4-wheel drive
- Hot new tires-racetrack performance for your car - new
generation of tires that perform the way race-car tires did a few
years ago but still help fuel economy and have long-life treads.
hottest tires appear to be Bridgestone's Potenza RE71, Pirelli's
P700, Goodrich's Comp T/A, and Goodyear's Eagle VR S
Mar issue:
- Car test: hot performers - tested Chevy Corvette, Mazda RX-7,
Nissan 300ZX turbo, Porsche 944 turbo.  Author's choice: price +
performance = RX-7.  The RX-7 handled as well as the rest, was
slower in flat-out acceleration, and was $10,000 less than the
300ZX and $18,000 less than the other 2 (price as tested).
- Super Supra - quick 1 page review of the 86-and-a-half Supra.
- "Say, Smokey-" - fluid change intervals - engine oil every 3K
to 4K miles; oil filter every 7K to 8K; auto trans fluid and
filter, manual trans lube and differential lube: once a year or
40K; brake fluid every 2 years in hot weather, every year in hot
and cold conditions; radiator coolant twice a year
