  I have a few queries for the Hack gurus out there.

  There I was, had gone from level 40 to level 30 and collected 99000+ 
  pieces of gold, the amulet and a whole pile of gems (although 12 diamonds 
  had been stolen at level 37).

  I left my gold on the staircase and went off to seek new treasures.
  When I returned the lot had been stolen. "RIGHT!" I thought. I quaffed a
  potion of blindness and proceeded to kill every monster on that level.
  When I regained my sight I read a scroll of gold detection...NOTHING!!

  Queries : Where did my gold go ? 

	    Is there some monster which can teleport between levels ? 

	    Should I work my way up from level 40 again, quaffing potions 
	    of blindness and slaughtering everything in sight ?

	    Have I any chance of ever seeing the 12 diamonds again ?


  Any help before I leave the dungeon would be appreciated.
