OK...It appears that the meaning of 3M is not trivial, as
I have gotten at least three responses that included the
phrase "what's so tough about that?"  Anyhow, 3M stands
for Minnesota Minning and Manufacturing.  However, noone
was able to come up with some history behind the name change,
and I know nothing of the sort.  Therefore, if anyone out there
can shed some light on the name change, plese do so.

(General appreciatory remarks follow concerning all those
 who submitted answers to this not-so-trivial question)...
