They did give some of the employees a choice of moving to their new location (a ways down the coast). When I interviewed with Burroughs, they clearly stated that they would have new hires initially spend some time in the "trenches" doing trouble-shooting and systems programming, but that would be for one year and you could choose where to go from there.
