The subtext suggests that claims Whooaahh! Hold it. Don't you think you are taking this a little too seriously. And DONT give me, "But rape/women's rights/etc is a very serious subject not to be joked about." This joke seemed to be of the witty type. Most humor is evolved from some sort of irony or twisted logic and should not be condemned for being such. Sat. Night Live was the best at this. There were NO untouchable subjects. Everything was ripped apart. My favorite was when Rev. Jesse Jackson was on the show. They showed an all white production crew being replaced by an all black stand-in crew as the Rev. came into the production booth. Now I would imagine that the Reverand feels as strongly about black rights as you do about Women's rights. The differance is that he can stand back and laugh at himself. Just because you fancy yourself as some sort of champion of women's rights, you do not have the right to judge our views on the subject. I liked the joke, but am still all for women/men/blacks/mexicans/martians. The one group of people I am highly prejudiced against is those that are close-minded. If I were you I would try to look at myself and see what good bitching about a joke is doing. If you want to do some good for women, camp out at your state Capitol and loby for equal pay, fair hiring practices, and other meaningful acts. Complaining on a computer network isn't helping a bit. Whew!!!!!! that was longer than I expected, sorry. Bottom Line: Lighten Up, it was *just* a joke!! -- Martin Van Ryswyk {dual,lll-crg,ucbvax}!ucdavis!deneb!ccs025 uucp ucdavis!deneb!ccs025@ucbvax.berkley.edu arpa
